Polyester Resins

Polyester Resins are produced by condensation of diols or polyols (e.g. glycerine) and dicarboxylic acids. In contrast to the chemically related alkyd resins, no long-chain fatty acids are used in the production. Polyester resins are still one of the largest and most versatile class of binder systems.

Industries

Saturated Polyester Resins play an important role in baking and powder coatings as well as in two-component coatings. Unsaturated polyester resins (UP resins), on the other hand, are used to manufacture fiber-reinforced plastics, putties, wood coatings and casting resins.
